What is the difference between using floating and non-floating aluminium paste?

“Aluminum paste”, “aluminum pigment paste”, “silver paste”, and “aluminum flake pigment” are indexed synonyms. The pigment consists of lamellar aluminum flakes dispersed in mineral spirits or water, optionally surface-treated with stearic acid (floating grade) or oleic acid (non-floating grade).
